The more you enjoy yourself, the more other people will enjoy you.
Leave your supposed tolerance for tedium behind and refresh your heart and mind...
If you consider yourself interesting, people will find you interesting also.
If you are happy with yourself, others will be happy with you.
If you open your heart to others, they will open their hearts to you.
If you dare to insert some blue into your rose-coloured hues, you'll invite a duality of perspectives. If you add yellow and grey, you'll be creative a multiplicity. How many shades can you fit into your spectrum? How many spectrums can you envisage? How many do you need?
Why not create a new one for every new thing you learn? Why not recontextualise everything at every given moment?
If you thrive on constant change like me, you may always be discovering new patterns in which you stay the same. Everytime I discover a new habit, I reinvent it. For example, in Thailand I realised that my tendency to avoid sweat-inducing physical activity has been in place ever since I was seven years old. I came last in a race at school, felt upset about it, and avoided competing with the other children through sports ever since, preferring to immerse myself in reading, something I considered as more cultured. My prejudice against sports still holds today in many ways. It was an interest I haven't spent enough time cultivating, and I would like to change that. I can intellectually understand that I would feel better if I had regular periods of physical activity, but my muscle memory still needs to undergo a Renaissance. (Am I pre-modern here?
)
My favourite habit is writing in this blog... I have the opportunity to build on, and, indeed, reinvent my entire of body of work, one regular post at a time. The more subjects I cover, the more shades of myself I show, the more deeply and intricately I can grow.
Presently I'm weaving in and out of poetry and prose - why not be in both places at the same time?
I'm listening to Paparazzi again, and Lady Gaga is still all climax and not enough build-up. I love her music nevertheless.
If I choose to feel dispirited about my neglect of my physical health, negative feelings tend to build, and I feel even worse. If I focus on my willingness to change, I will find an innovative way to get the exercise I need. The more I write, the more flexible and firm I feel, inside and outside. I love the complexities I articulate, and the lofty heights I reach for (and sometimes attain). I love...
Enjoying yourself is the key to being at your best, and inspiring others to do the same.
