Top 20 Countries With Highest Quality Of Life - Brief Analysis

The United Nations Development Program has just released their statistics for this year, which you can find here. (Do check out the rest of the list, which I found quite insightful.) I have copied and pasted the Top Twenty below:
The first thing I notice here is that of the nine countries that have Tall Poppy Syndrome or Jante's Law, all of them made it into the top 20. The top 4 are exclusively societies where this socially levelling philosophy is in place. I would like to read more about this phenomenon - or perhaps even to write about it myself.
The second thing I notice is that out of the 7 countries that have legalised same-sex marriage, six are in the top 15. (The missing nation is South Africa.) Most of the rest are not far from following in their footsteps... I think that sends a pointed message to those who aren't sure about the benefits of allowing more people who love each other to get married.
