Why I'm NOT Leaving Uni
March 7th 2008 11:47
Because getting a job like working in a pub sucks. And it won't suck any less in the UK.
Because I'd prefer to drop down to part-time so that my parents don't kill me, and work on my book instead of toiling away at a low-income earning occupation.
Also, because I found out that there are restrictions upon which jobs Bulgarians and Romanians can take in Western Europe that will be in place until 2010. So while I could theoretically teach English as a Foreign Language with a Bulgarian passport (I think), I would probably want to do something else.
I may, however, be transferring to UNSW for the next semester, as getting to USYD is quite painful, if you're going more than two days a week.
So, I'll be keeping Spanish and dropping Introduction to Chinese Civilisation (which is on at the horrible hours of 9 & 10am). As for the English subject, I'll try it out, and if I don't like it I won't continue it.
So yeah, that was quick... I'm itching to go travelling again, and my dad may allow me to go to Thailand for 3 months or so if I finish this semester.
I feel like I am getting too old to be stuck in Australia, but looks like I'm going to be here until I'm, like 30. The good thing is that the student exchange plan is still on.

Yeah, I *really* want to go, but I know I won't like the job and am likely to skedaddle after the first week, leaving me broke and having no choice but to come home. I've done this twice, in Poland and China, and next time I spend the money on a ticket o/s I want it to be permanent. So this is me trying to be "realistic," whatever that means.
But rest assured that when I go I will see London AND Brighton AND Manchester AND many more places! I'm fascinated by Stonehenge.
Thanks for your comments, it makes me keep my goal of living o/s at the forefront of my mind, and I'll be watching for any opportunity to do things outside the norm and find a way to live there...
