Counter-Intuitive 'Realities', and How To Tune Out Of The Hysteria They Impose

: Reality is the Wildest Fantasy
Category: No Category
Looking for a suitable URL for my previous post, I decided to explore the imagery that tickled the corners of my mind with attaching an 'invisible' to the word 'tattoo', an operative word in the title of the Larsson novel.

This morning, it struck me that I perceive tattoos as a voluntary kind of branding - interrupting the limitless potential for a blank canvas that the skin provides by making a permanent mark somewhere. An invisible tattoo, then, carries with it this oppressive misconduct.

Cultivating an objective sense of reality is, I feel, similar to imposing upon your organism an unnecessary, painful artwork of dubious worth. A system to engineer your mind in regards to. A method of organisation which is counter-intuitive, deeply internalised and undertaken due to a mistaken sense of obligation to impetus.

'Reality' is a kind of hysteria, which can can be traced back to 1550 in studies of the origins of English words... A curious concept which has amassed a global cult of many millions and is used to bully their less tormented neighbours.

'Reality' is frequently accompanied by other key words, such as the ones frequently found in Mr Obama's easy-reference showcase: Unity, harmony, togetherness, universality. These words have been brutally represented as desirable limitations to place upon the individual's fabric of consciousness for centuries, and remain firmly entrenched as worthy of Western worship. What a pity.

Can we rescue the word reality from being an accomplice to furthering the relevance of the construction of absolute truth?

3rd October 1:51am Sydney time,

It's interesting - what I have captured above evokes the phrase 'eloquent rant' - it has not yet assumed optimum shape, sort of a (pretty) bare bones experience which serves as a place-holder until such time as I return to it. Nevertheless, I am very proud of it, and I often think about how I use language - my intuitive reliance on certain words, sounds and phrases.

I aim to write motivationally, with a poetic kind of journalism. Perhaps it's journalistic poetry.

Anyway... it is time for me to reclaim words such as 'reality' - I do not want to say goodbye to its three syllables just because they have been adopted by people for sinister purposes. The word reality is not inherently part of an absolutist paradigm - it can be very useful and elucidating.

When using it, I feel it is important to eliminate a context for it to be interpreted as reference to the objective - prefixing it with 'my' should be a nice way to diffuse this expected meaning. 'My reality' emphasises the individual's cosmos, which is not a generalisation. However, if you can find a more inventive way to go, I suggest that. It's time to take a departure from your norm.

Good post! What I distrust about this reality concept is the way it's often used to brow-beat the imaginative, the non-conformist and even those defending a different viewpoint in an argument! After all, isn't reality relative?
