Irresistable Heartaches

Smuggling isolated elements of love
Across those ill-defined (abiding?) emotional bordersamn much.
Our hearts the eager test tubes in the mix
With furtive innocence
We form illicit compounds
That serve daily to sustain
Our STP (that’s short term pleasure)
And the acronym of Long Term Pain.
Little interest
In the original structure
Of the force we wish to recreate.
Love is the agent we intended to reproduce - and love is merely what’s at stake.
Those new grand models
Inherently flawed
For we recreate only that of which
We know
And those designs…
We may intelligently perceive,
But our hearts refuse to receive as
O-O-T (Out of Touch)
Continue to be imitated as
We need to
Reprise
Those Irresistible Patented Heartaches™ too damn much
