Beautiful Postmodern Architecture Around The World #2: Road Trip Through China

In China, even soulless industrial centre of Shenzhen teems with more notable buildings than most flourishing cultural centres. My current favourite is the 262 m Shenzhen Special Zone Press Tower below,

I'm also delighted by the building in front of the fourth tallest tower in China (Shun Hing Square, in the background), which is further representative of how Chinese architects like to combine flat and curvy surfaces:

Reinventing the spectrum of modern architecture yet again will be the twin towers due to be built in nearby Guangzhou in 2010:

Traveling up to Shanghai now, the city has a virtually inexhaustible supply of postmodern architecture - just check out its skyline:

Finally gravitating to the far north of China to Dalian, the port city holds its own as a theme park. Here's but a sample of its inimitable style... The Dalian Radio & TV Broadcasting Center building:

It's good to see you, Fabrizio,
Thank you for your comment, I would so take an architecture course if I weren't put off by the mathematics component! I'd love to be able to add to the physical world, adding my own personal touch to the built environment. For now I'll settle for being a vocal admirer of architectural design.
I'd love to see your pictures, you can email me at epiphaniebloom@gmail.com if you like.
I"ll add you next time I'm on MSN.
Ciao for now~

Those towers due to be built in Guangzhou are absolutely breathtaking. I myself am not a huge fan of skyscrapers, preferring the structures of the late 19th/early 20th century, with a particular fondness of Art Deco buildings. However, those are just beautiful.

Hi Nina,
Thank you for your comment! )
The towers are so enchanting that I might even be tempted to visit the very polluted and congested Guangzhou after 2010 to savour them first-hand... China continues to amaze me.

I've seen all those buildings in Dalian... I used them as references when I got lost!

I considered them ugly. You like them. Odd, eh?

yeah, i`m feeling like listening to a symphony of an extreme fine art (METAL could be, lol) while looking through these buildings, really, hail Chinese architects \m/, one feels really proud being an architect, on my line or not ?
